Fantasy Football Week 6 Rankings: Fred Jackson and the Top 3 RBs

Chris TrapassoOct 14, 2011

Every week, fantasy owners are searching for the top running back to lead them to victory.

In Week 6, we've got a few featured backs that have favorable matchups against some weak defenses.

The coaches of these backs realize how important running the football is to wearing down the defense and controlling the clock.

Fred Jackson, Buffalo Bills

Last week, Jackson nearly totaled 200 yards from scrimmage against the Eagles. He was clearly the focal point of the Bills' offensive attack.

The Giants run defense is more stout than Philadelphia's, but they could be without Justin Tuck and a few other key members of their defense.

With Buffalo's wide receiving corps somewhat depleted with injury, Chan Gailey will utilize his star runner throughout this one in a variety of different ways.

Jackson should see close to 20 carries and will certainly be involved in Gailey's screen game.

He'll be used in the red zone as well.

Another big game for Action Jackson.

Cedric Benson, Cincinnati Bengals

He should be in the lineup against the Colts this week, as his suspension will likely be handed down after the bye.

Indianapolis is ranked 31st against the run, allowing 145.2 yards per game.

Andy Dalton has matured as a quarterback and A.J. Green is slowly becoming a viable deep threat. However, I think the Bengals realize they can move the ball most consistently if they run Benson and run Benson often.

Another big game for Benson against a poor run defense.

Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons go as Michael Turner goes.

He was barely utilized in the second half against the Packers on Sunday night. Not surprisingly, the Packers dominated from then on and Atlanta was held scoreless.

Against the 27th-ranked run defense, I expect Mike Smith to give the Panthers a heavy dosage of Turner to start the game. What's more, he should then sustain that running attack throughout.

I expect Turner to near 25 carries in this one. He should have no problem eclipsing the 100-yard plateau.
