Brandon Lloyd Trade Rumors: Tennessee Titans and Best Possible Destinations

T.J. McaloonOct 14, 2011

Normally, around the NFL trade deadline, there is little to no news going on. It’s not like other trade deadlines where there are television programs dedicated to late-breaking news and teams throwing trades in at the last seconds before the deadline.

However, this year, the rumor mill is buzzing about possible players that are going to be traded before the Oct. 18 trade deadline date.

The most recent rumor is involving Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Lloyd, according to The Denver Post. Lloyd led the team in receptions, yards and touchdowns last year and was a Pro Bowl selection for the AFC.

But, this year he has been hampered by injuries and is seeing other receivers on the Broncos depth chart start to outperform him this year.

Lloyd has played with the Bears before, as in one season with the club he had 26 catches for 364 yards and two touchdowns. The club is lacking a big-play receiver for quarterback Jay Cutler and Lloyd would be a perfect fit with the club.

The addition of Lloyd would take pressure off Cutler to force throws to receivers that cannot make the plays Lloyd can make and force the defense to game plan for someone other than Bears’ running back Matt Forte

It’s being reported that the Titans are one of the teams in serious consideration for the receiver. They would have to give up a third- to fifth-round pick for Lloyd. But, the addition of Lloyd would add to a Titans receiving corps that lost their big-play receiver this year in Kenny Britt.

Having Lloyd would mean that the Titans are serious in making a run at the AFC South division title and a deep run in the NFL playoffs.

This one is a bit of a head scratcher, as the Panthers are 1-4 on the season, with an outside chance of making the playoffs this year.

But, those same reports are saying that the Panthers are one of those serious contenders to land the receiver at the deadline for a third- to fifth-round draft pick.

The addition of Lloyd to the Panthers would give Newton another receiving threat to play alongside Steve Smith. It would make this Panthers offense one of the best in the league, with Newton, Smith and DeAngelo Williams and James Stewart.

All of these teams are in consideration for last year’s leader in reception yards. If any one of these teams can land Lloyd, it will instantly make their offense one of the best in their conference.
