NFL Picks Week 6: Teams That Are Sure to Cover the Spread

Michael MillOct 13, 2011

It's difficult to predict winners and losers every single week in the National Football League.

Any team can step up to perform on any given Sunday, making it nearly impossible to pick every winner.

Add in the idea of covering the spread and the difficulty increases that much more.

That said, there are always a few picks that can be made with much more confidence than others.

Here are three teams sure to cover the spread this week.

Green Bay Packers (-14.5)

The Green Bay Packers are 14.5-point favorites this weekend. The total makes them the biggest favorite in Week 6 play.

The reason the spread is so large is because they are facing off against the winless St. Louis Rams.

Right now, I don't think any team can stop this Green Bay passing attack.

I'm even less hopeful that the team to do it will be the St. Louis Rams.

Typically spreads like this should go untouched, but this is one that's actually pretty safe.

New Orleans Saints (-4.5)

It's not that I'm jumping off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers bandwagon.

Actually, that's exactly what it is.

It's just hard to believe in a team that just got dominated the San Francisco 49ers 48-3.

Not to insult San Francisco, because they are a much improved team, but they still aren't nearly as good as a team like the Saints.

Imagine what the Saints will be able to do against this Tampa Bay team.

New England Patriots (-6.5)

The New England Patriots are one of the best teams in football.

Most people still see them as the favorite in the AFC race.

This weekend they go up against a Dallas Cowboys team that is once again severely overrated.

This is going to be a shootout between the two teams. Both will likely put up gaudy numbers through the air.

So would you rather have Brady or Romo throwing the ball for your team?
