NFL Trade Rumors: Broncos WR Brandon Lloyd Placed on Trade Block

Michael MillOct 13, 2011

The Denver Post has reported that, with the trade deadline closing in, the Denver Broncos have placed Pro Bowl wide receiver Brandon Lloyd on the trade block.

Denver has been linked with a multitude of potential trade options in a week where large-scale changes have been made within the team camp.

The Broncos have a bye week this upcoming weekend, but when they return to play it will be quarterback Tim Tebow, so impressive last weekend against the Chargers (two total TDs), under center.

Now it appears the former Florida star will have one less target to throw to.

Following the bye week, however, it shouldn't be a problem if Lloyd is no longer with the team.

Demaryius Thomas and Eddie Royal are set to return to action and the Broncos will likely commit to a heavier run-style offense with Tebow at the helm, in effect weeding Marshall out of the offensive framework.

The Broncos are looking to make the move after failing to work out a contract extension with Lloyd.

The former Illinois wideout is set to be a free agent after the 2011 season, so if the Broncos want to gain some value for the 2010 Pro Bowler, a move before the deadline would be their best option.

The apparent asking price is anywhere in the area from a third round to a fifth round pick in the '12 draft.

There are many teams that will likely consider making an offer.

The Tennessee Titans, Carolina Panthers, Oakland Raiders and New York Jets are all possible candidates to reach out with interest in the receiver.

Lloyd had a league-leading 1,448 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns last season.

Just last week he showed off his athletic ability with a one-handed grab on the sideline.

Lloyd is a unique talent. He would likely be better off if he did make the move to another team. The clock is ticking. Teams will have to make offers quickly.
