NFL Picks Week 6: New York Giants and Teams Who Will Rebound After Loss

Matt FaulconerOct 13, 2011

The New York Giants were one of the teams who flopped in Week 5 and will be desperate for a victory this coming week.

The Giants aren't the only team looking to rebound after a poor effort last week.

The Chicago Bears and the Atlanta Falcons will be hoping to bounce back after tough losses last week.

New York Giants

The Giants were their typical selves last week as they dropped a home game against the Seattle Seahawks.

They were in control for much of the game, but collapsed in the fourth quarter. The Giants haven't lost consecutive home games since 2009, and they likely won't allow that to happen again this year.

Eli Manning has generally bounced back well following a loss in his career, and the Buffalo Bills are giving up a ton of yard both on the ground and through the air. The Bills also struggle to get pressure on the QB, as they are dead last in the NFL with just five sacks.

Manning generally struggles when he is under pressure, but if he has time to throw, he will likely be able to pick apart the Bills secondary. If the Giants can keep turnovers to a minimum, they should be able to knock off the Bills this week.

Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons have a very difficult game against the Carolina Panthers this week and desperately need a victory.

Cam Newton has been elite to this point in the season, and the Falcons secondary is going to have their hands full. They will likely give up a ton of yards, but they should be able to fight through for a victory.

Michael Turner will be the key for victory in this game. Look for the Falcons to pound Turner all game. The Panthers are conceding 135 yards rushing, which bodes well for the struggling Falcons run game.

They will wear down the Panthers defense throughout the course of the game, and will be able to keep their defense off the field enough to hold off the Panthers late.

Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears couldn't have run into the Minnesota Vikings at a better time. The Vikings have been awful to this point in the season, as they have just one win through five games.

The Vikings give up over 270 passing yards per game, which bodes well for Jay Cutler. The Bears QB was beat up often against the Detroit Lions, but he was able to hang in and deliver the ball for 249 yards.

He should have a better week this week, and the Bears defense should thrive off the fans and Donovan McNabb's ineffectiveness.

Expect the Bears to get back to .500 with a win in this one.
