Brandon Marshall Comments Should Leave Fantasy Football Owners Wary

Chris TrapassoOct 13, 2011

The start to the Miami Dolphins 2011 season has been pretty bad, and now things just got weird thanks to a quote from wide receiver Brandon Marshall

Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post quoted the polarizing wideout today in a tweet he sent out to his followers.

Marshall said:

"

"My goal is to get thrown out midway through the second quarter."

"

What the?

Marshall went on to say:

"

"The quarter and a half I'm gonna be out there I'm gonna be a monster."

"

So let me get this straight, Brandon Marshall is going to play really hard against the New York Jets on Monday Night, but his "goal" is to get thrown out of the game?

I guess so.

For people who own Marshall in fantasy, this has got to send up some red flags.

Sure, you love hearing that he's ready to play tough because when he's giving it his all and is extremely physical, there's not many receivers better than Marshall.

Go for it, Brandon.

Love the passion.

You'll have to be really physical with Darrelle Revis on you all evening.

But, to get thrown out?

I've never heard of this before.

He has been one of the more underachieving wideouts in fantasy this season (by WR No. 1 standards) and is getting a new quarterback under center in Matt Moore.

Not exactly Dan Marino.

He'll take a trip to Revis Island, which also doesn't bode well for the former Denver Bronco standout.

Before this comment I didn't necessarily trust Marshall on my fantasy team and now, I'm not quite sure what to think.

This certainly doesn't boost his stock, right?

If he stands by his word, how many points could he possibly put up playing only two quarters, while being covered by Revis with Moore as his quarterback?

Another head-scratcher from Mr. Marshall.
