Fantasy Football Week 6 Rankings: Drew Brees and 3 Players to Carry Your Team

Michael DixonOct 13, 2011

Every week, there are a couple of stars that don't quite live up to expectations, at least from a fantasy perspective.

They might have had good, clutch performances, and their numbers might not have been bad. Still, fantasy owners are left a little disappointed.

Fantasy owners of these players won't have to worry about that this week.

Drew Brees

The Buccaneers haven't exactly had a lot of success against opposing quarterbacks this year. None of them were as good as Brees and none of them had the weapons that the Saints have.

Alex Smith had a solid game against the Tampa Bay defense. Brees is going to light them up.

A 300-yard, multiple touchdown performance is nearly a guarantee here. The only question is whether or not Brees will throw any interceptions to bring his fantasy totals down.

Even if he does, his numbers will be massive. By the way, after this week, Brees plays one game outdoors. He'll be a fantasy monster for the rest of the season.

The 49ers secondary is improving, but it's hard to imagine Johnson not having a nice day this week.

Matthew Stafford and Johnson are forming one of the best quarterback/wide receiver duos in the NFL, and they're only getting better.

Johnson leads the NFL in touchdown catches this year. Even if the 49ers keep him in check this week (in relative terms), it's hard to imagine Johnson not putting up some good fantasy totals.

A lot of the same logic for Johnson applies here. The Lions don't have a great run defense, and the 49ers will need to avoid being predictable.

The Lions' pass-rush is fierce, so the 49ers will have no choice but to keep them on their toes. Gore's performances are improving every week.

As if that wasn't enough, Gore is also a viable pass-catching threat. Gore's stats will be strong against Detroit.
