Week 6 Fantasy Football Rankings: Adrian Peterson and the Top 3 RBs to Start

Michael MillOct 13, 2011

Week 6 in most fantasy leagues, like in the actual NFL, is the final week for potential trades. That means it's your final chance to contact members with blockbuster trades before your rosters are all but set for the year.

The most important position in the fantasy football world is running back. To be successful in most leagues, you need at least one big name running back on your roster.

Here are rankings for the top-three running backs this upcoming weekend.

3. Cedric Benson (Cincinnati Bengals)

It's never a good feeling as a fantasy owner knowing that your best running back may have to ride the bench due to suspension.

Luckily for Bengals fans, it doesn't appear commissioner Roger Goodell will hand out Benson's suspension until after this weekend.

Why is that important?

Because Benson and the Bengals are set to face off against an atrocious Indianapolis run defense this weekend.

Benson has had a pretty good season. He will look to make up for his upcoming missed games with a big one this week.

2. Darren McFadden (Oakland Raiders)

McFadden is finally becoming the running back everybody expected to see in Oakland when he entered the league in 2008 as a rookie.

After six weeks, McFadden currently leads the NFL in rushing yards at 519 yards.

He struggled a bit last weekend against the Houston Texans but will rebound nicely this week against a weak Cleveland Browns defense.

Look for McFadden to add another 100-yard performance to his stat line for the season.

3. Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings)

Last week the Minnesota Vikings found out what happens when you give Peterson the ball.

Simply put, you win.

The Vikings are now 1-4 after a terrible start. It was Peterson's 122-yard and three-touchdown performance last week against the Cardinals that led to the victory.

They will do the same thing this week against a Chicago Bears team that hasn't been succeeding at stopping the run.

In a matchup between the league leader in rushing and the No. 2 man, the veteran Adrian Peterson will have the slightly better day.
