Fantasy Football Week 6: Jahvid Best and 3 RBs You Must Bench

Matt FaulconerOct 13, 2011

Matchups, matchups matchups—It's the biggest factor in deciding which of your players should be in the lineup each week.

There are plenty of terrific matchups this week, such as Ahmad Bradshaw against the Buffalo Bills and Peyton Hillis against the Oakland Raiders. Be that as it may, there are plenty of horrible matchups also.

Jahvid Best (Detroit Lions)

Best is coming off a terrific week that saw him explode for 150 yards last week against the Chicago Bears, but things get much more difficult this week.

Best faces the San Francisco 49ers this week, who have been dominant against the run this year. They have the fourth best run defense in the NFL this year, and held Bucs star LeGarrette Blount to just 34 yards last week.

Best has not been very explosive in the run game this year, and wouldn't have put up big numbers last week if not for the Bears' defensive lapses. Don't expect the 49ers to commit those lapses this week. If you have other options, it's best to leave Best on the bench this week.

Felix Jones (Dallas Cowboys)

The Dallas Cowboys have really struggled to run the ball this season, and that will likely continue this week.

The Patriots have the 13th best run defense in the NFL, and their defense gives up the majority of yards through the air.

Jones has only topped 50 yards rushing twice this season, and has really struggled with consistency. If you take away his 40-yard run against the Washington Redskins, he wouldn't have a single game on the season with more than 70 yards rushing.

He just hasn't been consistent enough to rely on, and thus he should be left on the bench with a tough road matchup ahead of him this week.

Steven Jackson (St. Louis Rams)

Another tough matchup lies ahead for Jackson. The Rams head to Lambeau Field this week to take on the Green Bay Packers who boast the third best run defense in the NFL this week.

Jackson had just 17 carries for 45 yards in his last outing against the Redskins, and he will be lucky to get that many carries this week.

The Packers are going to score points in a hurry on the Rams, which means, in turn, the Rams will be playing from behind nearly the entire game.

They won't have the chance to run the ball, and will likely spend most of the game throwing.
