Week 6 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Mark Sanchez & Struggling Stars to Play

Patrick ClarkeOct 13, 2011

The New York Jets (2-3) will likely get the next closest thing to a bye week on Monday night when they play host to their AFC East foe Miami Dolphins (0-4).

The game is expected to feature a bounce-back performance from the Jets' dismal 2011 offense, specifically Mark Sanchez and the New York running game.

The Dolphins boast the league's 31st-ranked pass defense and 14th-ranked rush defense. So, something is sure to give when they face the Jets' 21st-ranked pass attack and 31st-ranked rushing offense.

The advantage goes to the better team, which is without a doubt the New York Jets.

Mark Sanchez

Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez has disappointed thus far this season, completing just 56 percent of his passes and turning the ball over eight times in five games.

Monday night, he will face the weakest defense he will likely see all season, so if there is ever a game to start Sanchez, it's this week.

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson has been grounded through the season's first five weeks because of the Eagles' turnover tendencies.

Jackson has been limited to just 21 catches this season, and even worse, just two touchdowns.

Still, he has seven plays of 20-plus yards in 2011, and he will be going up against a Redskins defense he ripped to shreds last season.

Tim Hightower

Washington's Tim Hightower has seen a dominant preseason go by the wayside this year, as his rushing numbers have dwindled considerably since the regular season began.

Hightower is matching up with one of the league's worst rush defenses this weekend, however, and has the type of bruising power to reel off big runs.

Hightower is averaging 3.5 yards per carry in 2011, but he will have his number called plenty this Sunday.
