Oţelul Galati vs. Manchester United: Preview, Start Time and Schedule

Alex KayOct 13, 2011

Manchester United is looking to get a win in group play after drawing twice in their previous matches.

The are grouped with Otelul Galati, FC Basel and Benefica, of which the Red Devils are head and shoulders above in every way.

They were unfit for their first two matches and will look to finally put up a win to catch up with Basel and Benefica, who are currently sitting atop the group with four points a piece.

Otelul Galati is 0-2 with zero points right now and should provide little challenge for Sir Alex Ferguson and his elite squad in this match but you never know.

Where: Arena Nationala, Bucuresti, Romania

When: Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 2:45 p.m. EDT

Watch: ESPN Australia, ESPN HD Brasil, FSC, Sport.TV3, SuperSport 3, SuperSport HD

Player to Watch for Otelul Galati: Daniel Chavez

Chavez is a young player with a ton of potential. He has good pace and acceleration and is now getting capped as a centre forward for Peru.

This is his first season with Otelul Galati and this kid is going to be a name to remember.

Player to Watch for Manchester United: Wayne Rooney

Rooney is one of the greatest goal scorers in the game right now and will probably add at least one more when Man U takes the field against Otelul. He has 111 goals in 223 appearances for his side.

He was sent off on in the second half of England’s 2-2 draw against Montenegro for a questionable challenge and may be looking to take some of the frustration out for that call on Otelul.

Key Matchup: Otelul Galati defense vs. Manchester United attack.

Galati is going to have to play ultra-defensive and work on counter-attacks if they want to have any shot of even drawing with Man U.

They are the best team in the top Romanian league, but that is no match for Sir Alex Ferguson’s talented bunch. I can’t see any way that the Red Devils lose this.

What They’re Saying

TribalFootball.com is reporting that Sir Alex Ferguson has problems with the pitch at Arena Nationala, where the game will be played next week.

"

“Ferguson is waiting for UEFA’s response to ref Howard Webb’s condemnation of the Bucharest pitch where Manchester United play Otelul Galati next month.

United’s France left-back Patrice Evra said the surface had cut up badly. Ferguson said: “Howard Webb has put in a report.

“Patrice said it was terrible. They’d laid a new pitch but it was a disgrace, with big divots coming out.

“I would think they’d be aware they have to lay another pitch.”

"

MirrorFootball.com is also reporting that Ferguson is extremely pleased with their draw for Champions League play. He contacted executive David Gill to let him know.

"

“I’ve had a text from Sir Alex and he’s happy with the draw,” said Gill. “We look forward to going to play the Romanian team in their first Champions League campaign, while we’ve crossed swords with Basle before.”

"

Score Prediction: Manchester United over Otelul Galati, 4-0.
