David Haye Announces Retirement and Plans to Be a Champion in Hollywood Next

King JOct 13, 2011

According to a recent interview on Sky News, former undisputed cruiserweight champion and heavyweight champion David Haye has announced his retirement, as he promised to retire by his 31st birthday which was today, October 13th.

Haye who is from the UK and talks with a cool British accent, has much charisma and charm to go with his movie star good looks. When asked what he will do next now that he is retired, he joked about being an alcoholic and then stated that he will pursue acting, and has already been offered roles in Hollywood. However he says he needs to wait for the right project for him to do.

Haye also quickly dismissed rumors that his own manager was saying that a fight with Vitali Klitschko was in the works and he even took a jab against both heavyweight champion brothers, saying that they are fighting a small fighter and a fat fighter in their next opponents in Jean Marc Mormeck and Chris Arreola.

Being the undisputed champion at cruiserweight and moving up to heavyweight and winning the title and defending it three times is definitely an impressive career for Haye.

Of course, many were counting on David Haye to be the savior of the heavyweight division and that basically means he would have needed to beat both Klitschko brothers who now hold all of the major world titles in the heavyweight division, including Haye's own belt which he lost in a lackluster super mega fight with Wladimir Klitschko in July.

Haye may have been highly criticized for the way he fought Wladimir by back pedaling and not willing to engage at all but when he did open up and throw shots to the head of Wladimir he did land and even momentarily stunned him. Haye may have known that he was over his head that night or he may have just loved the attention and being on the world's stage more so then leaving it all in the ring.

Haye got a lot of people interested in the heavyweight division again by talking big and winning the title and defending it three times. He has the gift of gab and can win over most who ever interview him or listen to him talk.

When he taunted and hyped up his fights with the Klitschkos a lot of people who didn't normally take interest in boxing did take notice, but in the end he may have just been acting, and yes we believed his acting.

So cheers to David Haye 25(23)-2. Congratulations on a much accomplished career and knowing when to walk away from the sport with your health and good movie star looks in tact.

I would watch David Haye's movies when they come out. I have a feeling he will be just as funny, charming and believable as he was in pre-fight hype build up.
