NFL Picks Week 6: Dallas Cowboys Don't Stand a Chance At New England
The Dallas Cowboys may be 2-2, but the New England Patriots will put them below .500 for the first time in 2011 with a big win in Week 6. This is my pick of Week 6 that the Patriots will defeat the Cowboys 31-14
The Patriots have one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL with Tom Brady at the helm, and there is no way that coach Bill Belichick will want to lose to a mediocre Cowboys team.
This Week 6 game will not be close after the ball is kicked off.
Current Home Winning Streaks
1 of 6The Patriots have won 19 straight regular season games at Gillette Stadium and Tom Brady has won an NFL-record 30 straight home games during the regular season, and the Cowboys will not stand in their way of increasing these winning streaks.
Sure all steaks have to come to an end, but this Week 6 matchup is not the time for the Patriots to lose at home.
Tom Brady Is Too Good
2 of 6Tom Brady is playing great football in 2011, and this Week 6 matchup between the Patriots and the Cowboys is just another stepping block for a record-breaking year.
He averages over 374 yards per game and already has 14 touchdowns on the season. That is almost three touchdowns per game!
The Cowboys pass-rush is pretty effective, but Brady is Brady and he somehow fins a way to get the yards and the touchdowns when the Patriots need them the most.
Bill Belichick Won't Lose to Cowboys
3 of 6Bill Belichick won't just lay down and lose to a struggling Cowboys team, but he will coach the Patriots to victory.
Belichick wants to prove that the Patriots are the best team this year in the NFL, and that includes beating a team that the New York Jets defeated the first week of the season 27-24.
The Jets are below .500, and if the Patriots lose to a team that they beat, Belichick will not be a happy camper.
Tony Romo Chokes in Pressure Situations
4 of 6Tony Romo time and time again as failed as being an elite quarterback in the NFL. In the playoffs, he has not met expectations and in must-win games he hasn't always showed up.
Th Week 6 matchup against the Patriots is a test for him to get a must-win under his belt for the 2011 season. He could not get it done in Week 1 against the New York Jets, and he definitely won't get it done against another AFC East opponent in the Patriots.
Patriots Running Attack Is Getting Physical
5 of 6BenJarvus Green-Ellis is a Godsend for the Patriots offense this season. He has ran for 333 yards and is averaging over four yards per carry. He scored five touchdowns so far and is on pace for over 1,000 rushing yards.
Green-Ellis leads the Patriots in this running game due to his strength and his ability to avoid tacklers.
The Cowboys are first in opponents rushing yards allowed with about 62 yards allowed per game against them. Do not expect Green-Ellis to be stopped by them, but expect him to run right over their defense and score a touchdown or two.
Patriots Defense Is Looking to Improve Stats
6 of 6The Patriots were one of the top defense int he NFL in 2010, but now their defense is last in the league in passing yards allowed with 326.6 allowed per game.
The Patriots' defense looks at the Cowboys squad and believes that they are not pushovers. They are preparing for them as if it were the Green Bay Packers out there and they need to stop Romo from getting to his open receivers.
If they Pats do stop Romo from completing his passes and knocking him down a few times. Then, the Cowboys don't even stand close to keeping up with the Patriots in this Week 6 matchup.
