Dallas Mavericks: Mark Cuban Goes Soft on NBA Championship Bling

Adam WellsOct 13, 2011

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is a man of strength, integrity and principles. When he says he is going to do something, you believe him. After his team won its first-ever NBA championship in June, he promised to give them something better than a boring ring because everyone gets those.

Since he has had four months to figure out what he wants to do, Cuban apparently has no good ideas. He is going to give his team rings for their championship triumph, but they might have a little more pizzazz than we are accustomed to seeing.

According to a report in the Dallas Morning News, Cuban has settled on rings for reasons unknown at this juncture.

But owner Mark Cuban, after careful deliberation, has decided that the Mavericks will receive championship rings for their title that was won in June.

By "careful deliberation,'' we mean it probably came after one night of partying with the players after the Miami series. Back when those things were legal.

Even though some may scoff at the idea of Cuban really deliberating what he is going to do for his team carefully, he is passionate about everything he does. He always has an idea and surely he wanted to see that idea through.

My guess was that Cuban wanted to do something huge, the likes of which has never been done in history, but the players got in his ear to tell him that they just need something to put in a trophy case to relive the moment forever.

Sadly, Cuban has given in to The Man or whatever higher power forbade him from getting creative with the Mavericks' championship bling. Perhaps he can use some of the money that he saves to bring resolution to the lockout, that way his team will actually get their rings.
