NFL Picks Week 6: Jets Will Hammer Dolphins, Get Back On Track

Professor BushOct 13, 2011

With rumblings of team dissension and three losses already, Rex Ryan, head coach of the New York Jets, is not a happy man. But this week's game against the Miami Dolphins should give the team a good shot at turning things around.

The Dolphins have lost all four of their games and have generated only 69 points. With Matt Moore taking over for Chad Henne at quarterback, the offense will continue to struggle.

So look for the Jets to get well at the Dolphins' expense in a blowout on Monday night.

Mark Sanchez Will Throw Down the Field

1 of 4

The Jets are no longer the ground-and-pound team they were in 2009, but sometimes it seems that they have forgotten that. Maybe the pressure that Mark Sanchez absorbed in the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers has made the coaching staff too conservative.

Whatever was the issue, this week Mark Sanchez will be allowed to throw the ball down the field, and will respond with three touchdown passes against a Dolphin defense that has only two interceptions so far this season.

Jeremy Kerley Will Become a Contributor

2 of 4

With the departure of Derrick Mason, rookie Jeremy Kerley will get his chance to contribute, and he will respond. The Dolphins will game plan to try to stop Santonio Holmes and Plaxico Burress, leaving Kerley some good opportunities down the middle.

Look for Kerley to make four receptions, including one long touchdown.

Mangold Will Anchor the Offensive Line

3 of 4

The extra day of rest will give Nick Mangold's ankle more time to recover from last week's game. With Mangold back to almost full force, the offensive line will be able to give Sanchez the necessary time to set up and throw down field.

And hopefully the botched snaps when he was out will fade into history and not return.

Matt Moore Will Have a Horrible Night

4 of 4

This is not a good situation for Matt Moore. A road game on Monday night against an angry and hungry Rex Ryan defense in front of a revved-up crowd.

Look for at least three sacks, multiple hurries, two interceptions and a completion percentage south of 40 percent.
