WWE: Why This Jim Ross Incident Has Crossed The Line

Sam WatkinsOct 13, 2011

This past Monday on Raw, we were faced with many unpleasant surprises, one being the "firing" of WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross. For those of you who don't know, Vince McMahon has had it out for Jim Ross for years. Whether it's making him join the KMA Club, squirting him with barbecue sauce, or firing him over and over again, Jim Ross has been embarrassed for years on WWE TV. For whatever reason, Vince likes humiliating the greatest announcer in WWE history.

When Jim Ross was "fired" on Monday Night Raw this week, it wasn't too shocking, as we know Jim Ross has just been a pawn in Vince's game for years, but it was the aftermath that had me shaking my head. It seems that Jim Ross had absolutely no clue that he was to be fired in his home state of Oklahoma, and the segment came as a total surprise. Ross' wife was even in attendance, as they had been celebrating their anniversary on that same day.

Reports claim that the script for Raw had been re-written multiple times, and even the Superstars backstage had no clue of Jim Ross' firing. According to Ross, he was blindsided by the WWE's latest attempt to embarrass him, here are some quotes from his Twitter account:

"

"In case you haven't seen it the WWE.com, ambush interview w/ me after embarrassingly getting relieved of my post is a bad joke. Actually sad."

"So many people say, 'Well, it's part of a storyline.' If it is, no one has told me about the storyline. I just think WWE upper management has made the decision, again, to go with a different presentation at the announce position and I'm not in the plans. So, we move on."

"It came as a complete surprise. My wife -- we're celebrating our 18th anniversary today -- none of us knew. It took me completely by surprise. It was one of those embarrassing moments you endure and move on. It's like anything else in life: when you get faced with a challenge or an uncomfortable situation, you have to make some choices on how you handle it."

"

So once again, Jim Ross is bullied by Vince McMahon, and this may be the worst case yet. Jim Ross has been nothing but professional, even in this latest incident, and most will agree McMahon has crossed the line this time. We can only hope the firing isn't real, and we will soon be listening to Jim Ross on commentary once again.
