Winnipeg Goldeyes Named Organization of the Year for the 6th Time

Devon TeepleOct 13, 2011

For the sixth time in the past nine seasons, the Winnipeg Goldeyes have been named Organization of the Year by the American Association.

This past season Winnipeg led all of Indy ball with an average game day attendance of 5,740. It was reported late last month that “Winnipeg ranks 35th out of 350 affiliated, independent and summer collegiate baseball teams in North America and was one of only five independent teams to have an attendance increase from the 2010 season”.

Personally, as a Canadian baseball product, I couldn’t be more proud, and with very few Canadian organizations in all of affiliated and non-affiliated baseball, this proves once again that Canada can be a force in this game. If run by the right people, the sky is the limit.

Winning this award is an amazing accomplishment and the amount of times they have won it is a tribute to the hard work that everyone on the staff puts in day in and day out. Those sentiments were expressed by team owner and CEO Sam Katz:

“This award illustrates the respect the Goldeyes have in the American Association and it’s a privilege to be given this award by the other 13 teams in the league,” Katz said. “It speaks to the quality of staff we have, from the general manager to the bat boy, and the work they do to make the organization successful every season.”

Congratulations to the Goldeyes franchise on a tremendous honour and season.
