WWE: The Battle Lines Are Being Drawn on Monday Night Raw

David LevinOct 13, 2011

There were many different subplots that could be taken from Monday Night Raw this week, all of which will have a direct effect on the struggle for power within the company and the matches made for the upcoming Vengeance PPV.

When Triple H was summarily relieved of his duties by Vince McMahon (great turn of events) and John Laurinaitis was made the interim general manager, it solidified the VP of Talent Relations (enough with the titles already) as the leader of this "conspiracy" that has been disrupted several times by changes in scripts, injuries and just bad writing by the creative heads within the WWE.

Everyone and their mother knew when the walkout took place last week, the holy trinity of John Cena, Sheamus and CM Punk would rise to the occasion and back Triple H, even bonding with him and allowing there to be a "Four Horsemen-like" revival that had fans screaming in their shadows.

It also proved that the stable of Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, Cody Rhodes and Christian, along with David Otunga, would prove to be the force that Laurinaitis uses, with the aid of The Awesome Truth against these four superstars.

And it also begs the question what happens to Alberto Del Rio now that he holds the title as a heel who will face John Cena at Vengeance.

I assume, like other featured columnists on this site, that the tag team titles are the only belts that stand in the way of a total conspiracy and domination by Laurinaitis and his new followers. And I also assume that when all is said and done, it will be Vinnie Mac who proves to be behind this new "takeover" of his company.

I was not in favor of this kind of storyline to weeks ago, but seeing it on television makes me understand that it has to play out and it has to happen now. It also makes me realize the nWo theory was washed away when the story had to be rewritten without Kevin Nash.

But I want to see where the connection lies and how the writers will arc this so it makes more sense. The angle now has a chance to revive itself and become bigger than the sum of its parts. This would be much like the nWo angle when it was first developed for WCW, but it is not on the same page as this proposition.

Can the "conspiracy" angle now work effectively in WWE? Yes.

Can it work with the numbers it has developed? Yes.

Will more wrestlers be added to this angle? Yes.

And hopefully by Vengeance, we will know who is the culprit and who is the one responsible for the uneven storylines, the slow drag of a plot and the immediate movement in the past two weeks to make sure the fanbase remains loyal to what the WWE had already tried to instill as a new plot of an old and used agenda.
