Georgia Tech's Christmas Comes Early & Often

Brian TuckerDec 4, 2008

I’m going to do my very best to break this down for you and I’ll also do my best to make it short and to the point. The facts you’re about to read are both accurate and downright impressive.

I’m betting that all my Georgia Bulldog fans really expected to be reading all this stuff about the Dawgs, but hey preseason number onejust doesn’t mean much these days. By the way, if we can’t ditch the BCS in favor of a playoff (playoffs?) can we at least do away with this per-season number one crap and maybe start the polls half way through the season?

Paul Johnson came to Georgia Tech and knew he was going to install the triple option. The players at Georgia Tech (all recruited by Chan Gailey) were not recruited to play the triple option offense. At best I would bet that most Georgia Tech fans were looking forward to five or six wins. I’ll admit I would have been proud of at least four and with the triple option three would have been OK too.

Beat Georgia! Paul Johnson said it, the Georgia Tech football team said it, and hell I say it everyday now. I actually say “WE BEAT GEORGIA 45-42 IN ATHENS!”  How about this—we finished with a 9-3 (winning) record and quite possibly we’re the best team in the ACC.

I know what you’re thinking there mutt lovers! “It’s the ACC, not the SEC!” Shut up! Yes the SEC is the better football conference but that’s like me pointing out that Georgiawas the preseason number one and that Stafford and Morenoare both over rated.

The facts speak for themselves and I’m actually through bashing the Dawgs, well unless they lose in the Toilet Bowl game. OK we had the lead in the Coastal, but we failed at that and going into the Georgia game we still had a shot, but Virginia sucks and failed to help us out with Virginia Tech. We beat Georgia just liked I said we would and we did it with style!

This week Paul Johnson snatched up the ACC Coach of the Year and Jonathan Dwyer ran his way to ACC Player of the Year quicker than he ran to the endzone at the start of the third quarter in Athens. Even better we’ve landed in the Chic-fil-A Bowl (in our back yard in the ATL) and we’ll make it three in a row vs. the SEC on December 31st.

Watch out for Georgia Tech next season…… We’ve got a kung fu grip on the triple option and if we can throw the ball a little more (15 times per game) then we’ll win the ACC and make it two in a row vs. Georgia.
