Week 6 Waiver Wire: Alex Smith and 3 Strong Fill-In QB's
This is not a terrible week in terms of good quarterbacks being on bye weeks. Philip Rivers' owners are left scrambling, but not too many other fantasy studs are on a bye this week.
Still, with Rivers on a bye and Matt Schaub possibly being out (or at least playing hurt), we do need to take a look at the waiver wire to find some options at what's become fantasy's most important position.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Smith appears to be on his way to the Comeback Player of the Year Award. If he stays at this rate and doesn't win, it's hard to imagine him not being a strong competitor.
What Smith has done is just control the game. He doesn't make a lot of mistakes that have plagued him in the past.
I fully expect Smith to do more of that this week. He won't throw for 350 yards or anything, but a solid performance with a touchdown or two is quite likely.
McCoy is having a good year this season, at least in terms of yards. Against the Raiders, I don't expect that to change.
This is especially true when you consider that the Raiders are likely to win this game. What that means is that McCoy will be doing a lot of passing. With that, a lot of yards and a few touchdowns will come.
Fantasy yards don't count any less if they come in mop-up time.
The Bears' secondary has had its issues this year. Now, they have struggled against elite receivers, and the Vikings don't really have that.
Still, they do have enough to earn some serious yards on the Bears. Chicago will be more focused on defending Adrian Peterson and the Minnesota running game. With that, expect a couple of nice plays to come from the Minnesota passing game.
