Fantasy Football Week 6 Rankings: Steven Jackson and 4 Must-Starts That Must Sit

Wes ODonnellOct 12, 2011

There comes a time in every fantasy season where the most important, impactful and/or dynamic players run into teams that will simply overpower them.

This can happen for a variety of reasons, but most of the time it boils down to matchups.

In Week 6, we have more than a few matchups that cause problems for superstar fantasy players.

As a result, there are a few must-start players that you must sit this week in favor of a better matchup.

Steven Jackson, RB, Rams

The all-purpose back plays for arguably the worst team in the league and defenses only focus on him.

There are no weapons on the outside to concern secondaries and Sam Bradford can't make his receivers catch the ball.

This week, the Rams travel to Green Bay to take on the defending Super Bowl champion Packers.

The Packers are one of the league's stingiest run defenses and they're also likely to beat up on the Rams and force them to go to the air.

Arian Foster, RB, Texans

You think the Texans are a little bit worried about Andre Johnson's injury? They just traded for Derrick Mason's corpse that couldn't find its way onto the field in New York with the Jets.

Granted, he is a former Raven and could tell the Texans a thing or two. What's more, they don't trust Jacoby Jones as their top weapon on the outside.

Defenses don't just key on Foster now, they aim to completely neutralize him in every way possible.

This week, the Texans have to travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens. His carries will be limited after Baltimore drop eight in the box, meaning his best bet of being productive is going to be out of the backfield.

The Ravens are going to make the Texans use everything but Foster on Sunday.

Mike Thomas, WR, Jaguars

As if playing with a rookie quarterback who isn't ready to start isn't bad enough, Mike Thomas has to go up against the league's top-ranked pass defense this week in the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He hasn't caught more than five balls since Week 1, hasn't gone over 100 yards yet this year and has only found the end zone once.

It is safe to say that, if Blaine Gabbert has enough time to throw the football on Sunday, the Steelers will be ready to shut down Thomas.

Maurice Jones-Drew, RB, Jaguars

Much of the same goes for MoJo.

The Steelers aren't going to be beat by the Jaguars' best player. They'll do everything to shut down a running back who is already struggling.

MoJo's best bet is to make plays out of the backfield into the face of the blitz, but it is up to Gabbert to make those throws.

Don't count on MoJo having a very productive day.
