NFL Trade Rumors: The Latest Buzz on Carson Palmer
People around the NFL continue to wonder if the Cincinnati Bengals will actually consider trading quarterback Carson Palmer, but don't count me among them. Bengals owner/general manager Mike Brown won't trade Palmer for several reasons.
Brown doesn't want to have his hand forced and trading Palmer would make him appear weak and able to be influenced by the whims of his players. A few weeks ago, Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer said he definitely doesn't think Palmer will be dealt this year, and may not ever be moved. He's absolutely right, and teams across the league seem to agree with him.

Other than some cursory interest from the Miami Dolphins that didn't actually result in an offer or negotiations, noise on the Palmer trade front has been completely silent. Teams around the league realize that Brown isn't interested in trading his former franchise cornerstone and would rather let Palmer sit out than play elsewhere.
Palmer has apparently retired from the Bengals, but not the NFL, and there were reports in September that he was working out and staying in shape in hopes of playing again.
The NFL's October 18 trade deadline is less than a week away and there is nothing new to report on Palmer. That is just more evidence that Brown won't trade his former No. 1 pick and will instead be content to let him stay retired.
There may end up being a deal in the offseason if someone talks some sense into Brown and convinces him he should at least get something in exchange for Palmer via trade. Until then, don't expect a move to be made.
