Dancing With the Stars: Hope Solo Has What It Takes to Win

Donald WoodOct 12, 2011

While most people think of Hope Solo as the goalkeeper of the United States women’s soccer team that came so close to winning the World Cup, there is another side of Solo that doesn’t get as much attention.

Dancing with the Stars has brought Solo’s inner dancer to the surface, but it is her competitive spirit that has led her to embrace the idea of winning this competition.

There are several talented people on the show but the edge always goes to an athlete who has the physical prowess to complete some of the more difficult moves.

Solo may not have the best dancing skills in the competition, but she is too competitive to not give this opportunity every ounce of her effort.

Solo told the Huffington Post, "It's been a whirlwind. Everything I do, I do to the best of my ability, and at the end of the day, it's competition. Yeah, it's dancing, and it's not my cup of tea, but I'm very intense and pretty passionate about wanting to do the best I can."

As in years past, Solo’s previous experience performing in front of huge crowds like she faced during the Women’s World Cup in Germany will give her the edge.

Especially over people in the competition who don’t compete on any regular basis.

Another aspect of her competitive nature is just how hard Solo is on herself. While her partner tries to help her learn, Solo’s drive for perfection has her working as hard, if not harder, than anyone else on the show.

Even when she messes up during a live performance, she makes the conscientious choice to continue on with the performance and make the best out of a bad situation.

Almost like allowing a goal during a soccer and immediately putting it behind her.

She was built for this competition, and it looks like it’s hers to lose.
