NFL Power Rankings Week 6: Broncos and 3 Teams with Biggest Change of Heart

Ryan RudnanskyOct 12, 2011

Just because a team is down and out one week, doesn't mean it can't rise up the next.

In Week 5, there was the traditional moving and shaking in the National Football League, but three teams in particular looked like completely different squads than we were accustomed to.

The Denver Broncos, via a quarterback change, all of a sudden had a bit of life. So did two other teams.

3. Kansas City Chiefs (2-3)

The Chiefs did only beat the Indianapolis Colts, but there's no question that quarterback Matt Cassel has looked much better than he did early in the season.

Cassel threw for 257 yards and four touchdowns against the Colts, resembling the Cassel of yore, and the Chiefs captured their second straight win of the season.

The Chiefs still have to play better to beat the better teams of the NFL, but they do seem more cohesive as a whole now.

2. Denver Broncos (1-4)

All it took was the quarterback change everybody's been waiting for and the Denver Broncos were revitalized.

After starter Kyle Orton was benched following a disappointing first half, Tim Tebow finally got a chance to show what he could do. His numbers weren't spectacular, but he accounted for two touchdowns and clearly injected life into the team. After falling behind 23-10 at the half, the Broncos almost came back against the San Diego Chargers with Tebow at the helm.

The bottom line is that Tebow's teammates appear to follow his lead.

1. Seattle Seahawks (2-3)

Very few people foresaw what happened against the New York Giants in Week 5. After starting the season 1-3, the Seattle Seahawks came out firing, with quarterbacks Tarvaris Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst combining for 315 yards and two touchdowns.

By the end of the day, rookie receiver Doug Baldwin had once against made an imprint on the field and the Seahawks were 2-3 with a 36-25 victory.

The Seahawks still don't have a franchise quarterback, but they're making it known they aren't going to simply give up the division.
