Hope Solo on Dancing with the Stars: DWTS Favorite Escapes Elimination

Gabe ZaldivarOct 11, 2011

For at least one more week, a Dancing with the Stars favorite remains safe from the axe after Tuesday night. Pop the champagne, US national goalkeeper Hope Solo is moving on to Week 5.

Last week we were given a shock when Kristin Cavallari was sent packing from the contest.  The reality TV star and former fiancee of Jay Cutler had the moves to contend for the top prize, but it goes to show you never know who is considered popular by the American voting public though.

The threat adds to the intrigue as another star was voted off the stage Tuesday. For Week 4, that star was former Wilson Phillips singer Chynna Phillips.

Hope Solo was safe after an improvement in the grace department. She and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy did what they had to on Monday in a Foxtrot themed to Toy Story

It was movie week from DWTS, and Solo proved that she had even more star quality than we previously thought. She was far more graceful than in previous outings, and the judges rewarded the couple with a 24, which was the top score at the time of their scoring.

Former TV host Ricki Lake later scored a marvelous 29, and looks to push Team Solo to the edge for the title. Until now, Solo has been resting on her immense popularity.

However, she moved with much more femininity on Monday. The plodding muscular moves were gone for the week, and that made the difference.

The remaining "stars" are actor David Arquette, Kim Kardashian's brother Rob Kardashian, fashion expert Carson Kressley, Iraq war veteran and actor J.R. Martinez, writer and actor Chaz Bono, TV host and journalist Nancy Grace, and Ricki Lake.

The favorites for the time being have to be Lake and Martinez, with Solo in the mix as well. She now has a week to put even more polish on her dancing.

If she improves even just a little, she should be safe once again, benefiting a Solo-mad nation.
