WWE: Why Christian Is More Relevant Now Than Ever Before

Alex HallOct 11, 2011

For years Christian has been the king of the mid-card and IWC darling in the WWE, but now finds himself a regular in the World Heavyweight title hunt.

Much of the Friday Night Smackdown! superstar's recent push can be dated back to the unfortunate early retirement of his lifelong friend, Edge.

When Edge was forced to retire due to injury, Smackdown! lost arguably their biggest superstar on the roster, which led to Randy Orton being drafted to Friday nights and Christian becoming his nemesis.

The Orton-Christian feud was one of the best the brand has seen in years, perhaps since Edge and the Undertaker crossed paths several years ago.

Christian earned his first two major title reigns during his rivalry with "The Viper" and has continued to be prominent on Monday Night Raw, where he is frequently seen in competition and a possible part of the stable Vickie Guerrero has been attached to as of late.

This Canadian superstar may not find himself in the title hunt on Smackdown! at the moment, but he needed to move on from his "one more match" gimmick, and his new role as member of this Jack Swagger, David Otunga, Dolph Ziggler and Cody Rhodes alliance has the ability to become blockbuster.

All the above wrestlers have talent that has seen limited usage since Raw started using Smackdown talent, and understandably so, but the recent alliance (led by Christian and Guerrero) could become a formidable stable in the coming months.

Christian and Vickie are prominent figures on both WWE shows, and along with its other members, have the necessary ingredients to put together a captivating storyline with whomever they're paired up with.
