Baylor vs. Texas A&M: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio, Game Time and More

Adam WellsOct 11, 2011

One of the most intriguing games of the weekend is between Baylor and Texas A&M. The Bears have been a surprise this season, led by Robert Griffin III. The Aggies were able to stop a two-game losing streak with a win last week at Texas Tech.

Baylor has quickly become a threat in the Big 12 thanks to a high-powered offense that is putting up points at will. Robert Griffin III was a nice story at the beginning of the year, but is now a legitimate Heisman candidate.

Texas A&M was supposed to be a dominant team in the revamped Big 12, but things have not gone smoothly so far this season. The defense, which was so good for the Aggies last season, has been a colossal disappointment. Times are tough in College Station right now, but they can get better in a hurry.

Key Storyline To Watch: Will Baylor Be A Force In The Big 12 This Season?

Baylor started the season with an upset victory over TCU. The defense has not been good in any way, shape or form, but the offense is so good that they don't need to be good to win games.

How good they are remains to be seen, because they did lose to Kansas State, who is not exactly a powerhouse in the Big 12.

These next two games—against Texas A&M and Okalhoma State—will tell us how good they really are.

BCS/Top 25 Poll Implication

These teams are both on the outside looking in at the BCS right now. The loser of this game is essentially eliminated from having any chance to play in one of the big bowl games.

Also, the loser of this game will find themselves outside of the Top 25. Baylor is ranked 20th in the AP and 24th in the Coaches' Poll. Texas A&M is 21st in the AP and 23rd in the Coaches' Poll.

The Aggies have more at stake because they were supposed to be one of the top teams in the Big 12, but a loss here would be their third in four games. They would be done in the conference and have a huge mountain to climb to get back in the rankings.

What They Are Saying

Robert Griffin III has been getting all the attention for Baylor this season, but, as David Ubben of ESPN.com writes, he is just the tip of the iceberg.

"

These Bears have a lot more too them besides their Golden Boy at quarterback. Ask Iowa State and TCU's front seven.

That guy -- No. 24, what's his name? -- racked up 120 yards against the Horned Frogs. Terrance Ganaway had that at halftime against Iowa State, and finished with 200 yards and three touchdowns.

You know Griffin. You probably know his top target Kendall Wright, now the school's all-time leader in touchdown catches and receiving yards.

But Ganaway? Get to know him, too. Texas A&M will get their chance at Kyle Field on Saturday when Baylor shows up.

"

Baylor Player To Watch: Robert Griffin III, QB

Did you really expect someone else?

Griffin has been the most exciting player in college football this season. He is having one of the best seasons that we have ever seen. He is completing 80 percent of his passes with 19 touchdowns, leading the nation in both categories.

This team goes as Griffin goes, and considering the struggles Texas A&M has had on defense this season, expect him to "go" an awful lot in this game.

Texas A&M Player To Watch: Cyrus Gray, RB

The Aggies can win a shootout with Baylor, and odds are good that this game will turn into one. But given the struggles they have had on defense, it would be in their best interest to control the clock with the running game.

Cyrus Gray has had a solid season as the primary back in this offense. He has 101 carries for 479 yards and seven touchdowns already this season. He has three 100-yard games thus far, and he should easily surpass that number in this game.

Keeping Robert Griffin off the field is the easiest way for Texas A&M to win, so expect a healthy dose of Gray this week..

Key Matchup: QB Robert Griffin III vs. Texas A&M Defensive Line

Texas A&M's problems on defense are in the secondary. The team ranks second in the country with 21 sacks on the season, so they can get after opposing quarterbacks. They have to be able to put pressure on Griffin in this game if they want to have a chance to win this game.

Griffin has the ability to scramble, but he prefers to stay in the pocket and put his receivers in a good position to make a play. If he has time to throw in this game, it is going to get ugly in a hurry for Texas A&M.

No one has been able to contain Griffin for an entire game so far, but the Aggies have by far the best defense of any team that the Bears have played.

Prediction

It's tempting to pick Texas A&M because the game is at College Station, but Robert Griffin will be too much for the defense. Baylor will pull away late in a close game.

Baylor 43, Texas A&M 33
