Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 6: Jake Ballard, Jackie Battle and Other Adds

Zach KruseOct 11, 2011

Week 6 waiver-wire additions include:

RB Jackie Battle, Chiefs

Chiefs coach Todd Haley said last week that he wanted to get Battle touches against the Colts, and he followed through on his word. In return, Battle responded with 119 yards rushing and another 21 receiving. In a Chiefs backfield void of Jamaal Charles, Battle has some real upside. He's available in over 99 percent of ESPN leagues.

QB Tim Tebow, Broncos

Like the guy or not, he came off the bench and delivered two second-half touchdowns for a Broncos team that needs an offensive spark. Now, John Fox and the coaching staff will have the bye week to get Tebow ready to potentially start the rest of the season. They made the call on Tuesday to start Tebow against the Dolphins in Week 7. And despite his fame, Tebow is owned in less than three percent of ESPN leagues.

RB Delone Carter, Colts

Joseph Addai got hurt in the Colts' loss to the Chiefs, but then again, who saw that coming? Carter got 12 carries and added a touchdown in relief. If Addai has to miss time, then Carter becomes a borderline starter in 12-team leagues. He's available in over 98 percent of ESPN leagues.

WR Darius Heyward-Bey, Raiders

I wasn't sold on Heyward-Bey after his 115-yard outing two weeks ago, but he backed that up with 99 yards and a touchdown against the Texans on Sunday. He's seeing plenty of targets in 2011, which gives him fantasy value. Now that he is making the most of those opportunities, it might be time to invest in DHB, who is owned in less than three percent of ESPN leagues.

WR Doug Baldwin, Seahawks

It's been a similar situation for Baldwin in Seattle, as he put up two games of over 80 yards and two others with fewer than 25 during the first four weeks. He returned to the productive end on Sunday, hauling in eight balls for 136 yards and a score. Baldwin (owned in 0.8 percent of ESPN leagues) is going to be inconsistent in both targets and overall production, but he might be worth the gamble if you're lacking in the receiver department.

WR Steve Breaston, Chiefs

It took a couple of weeks for Matt Cassel to realize an NFL season was happening, but Breaston has regained some fantasy value with three strong weeks. During that span, Breaston has almost 200 yards receiving and two scores for a Chiefs team that is recovering on offense. As long as Cassel plays like he has in recent weeks, Breaston is a guy to keep your eye on. You can get him in 96 percent of ESPN leagues.

TE Jake Ballard, Giants

The Giants have been looking for a tight end to replace Kevin Boss, and it looks like Ballard has embraced that role. Over the past two games, Ballard has six catches for 105 yards. But the encouraging fantasy value here is that Ballard has two scores over that same span. Eli Manning has continually looked his way in the red zone. Ballard is available in over 99 percent of ESPN leagues.
