Dallas Cowboys: 8 Bold Post-Bye Week Predictions for Tony Romo, Cowboys
Jason Garrett has been on this team long enough. He doesn’t need more time for adjustments since he already knew this team by being the offensive coordinator. With the current rosters, Garrett must make it to the postseason. He made questionable decisions early on this year, and if he can’t find a way to win enough games to get into the playoffs, Jerry Jones will fire him.
After the loss vs. Detroit, Jones said that he wasn’t pleased with the play calling. If the boss disagrees with you, you better make sure that you are winning. If not, you’re on the hot seat.
Miles Austin, Dez Bryant and Orlando Scandrick Will All Be Playing on Week 6
1 of 8They were all back in practice on Monday, and there is no reason for them not to be in uniform on Sunday. The Cowboys will have their healthier lineup of the year. Romo and Witten also used the bye week to heal their respective injuries. Cornerbacks Terrence Newman and Mike Jenkins will also be fully healthy. The ‘Boys aren’t banged up anymore; they are healthier than any team!
Tony Romo Will Throw at Least 40 Passes on Week 6 Against the Patriots
2 of 8After four games, Romo averages 38 passes per game. The Patriots are ranked dead last in the passing defense department and Garrett can’t seem to be able to call a rushing play. The Cowboys will need to throw a lot if they want to go toe-for-toe with the Patriots. 40 passes will be easily reached by Romo. If you have him on your fantasy team, you will be a happy man on Sunday.
Tony Romo Will Reach 4,000 Yards This Season
3 of 8He has done it twice in his career, and I don’t see why he wouldn’t reach it this year again. He has some of the best weapons in the leagues with Jason Witten, Dez Bryant and Miles Austin. With an average of 38 passes a game, Romo will easily achieve this number and could have the best year of his career. However, getting to 4,000 yards doesn’t guarantee a playoff spot for Dallas.
Laurent Robinson Will Stay with the Team
4 of 8While Dez Bryant and Miles Austin were hurt, Cowboys signed 26-year-old Laurent Robinson. In two games, he had 10 receptions for 165 yards. He was supposed to get cut when both wide receivers would come back, but as of now, he could stay on the team. His performance impressed Coach Garrett. Since they are a pass happy team, the ‘Boys never have too many wide outs.
Dez Bryant Will Become the Most Productive Wide-Receiver
5 of 8After a good rookie year in 2010, I expect Bryant to become the most productive receiver on this team. His natural receiving and leaping skills make him a premiere asset for Tony Romo. With Miles Austin back in the lineup, he will draw less double coverage and should get open more often. He is able to make terrific catches in traffic and proved his ability to be a red zone threat on Week 4. Expect him to reach 10 touchdown receptions and over 750 yards this season.
The Cowboys Defense Will Be the Most Dominant One in the League
6 of 8They are No. 1 in the rushing defense rankings and No. 14 against the pass. Those numbers have been achieved with their three top corner backs being bothered by injuries. They are now fully healthy, and they have the best defensive player in the country with DeMarcus Ware. Also, the short offseason didn’t give much time for Rob Ryan to implement his defense. Down the stretch, this defense will get even better. They will finish in the top-five in defense in the league.
If the Cowboys Lose Against the Patriots, They Can Still Make the Playoffs
7 of 8The Cowboys have a favourable schedule. After the Patriots game, they have six home games left. Three of them are against some of the worst teams in the league: Seattle Seahawks, St. Louis Rams and Miami Dolphins. They will also play against the Bills, who will travel from East Coast to West Coast. Finally, they will meet two divisional rivals, the Giants and Eagles.
However, the Eagles could be out of the playoff race by then. The Cowboys could easily have five more home wins, which means that they would only need to go for .500 on the road to make the playoffs.
If the Cowboys Win Against the Patriots, They Will Win Their Division
8 of 8As previously stated, the home schedule of the Cowboys is pretty easy. If they win vs. New England, I like their chances to win the division. The Eagles are not the dream team as people thought. With only one win in five games, their hopes are over. The Giants always start the year strong, but they are awful in the second half of the season.
As for the Redskins, they weren’t able to beat a injury depleted Cowboys’ squad. Rex Grossman makes as many mistakes as Tony Romo, but doesn’t make as many great plays. If they win vs. the Patriots, they will gain momentum, and with a healthy squad and easy schedule, I like their chances to win it all in their division.
