Urban Meyer Video: Watch Meyer's Freudian Slip in Penn State's Win over Iowa

Kyle VassaloJun 1, 2018

Urban Meyer to Penn State rumors had Nittany Lions fans elated. As if there wasn't a strong enough buzz swirling around Penn State fans, Meyer added some fuel to the fire with the most dangerous word a commentator can utter.

"Our".

Any commentator saying "our" reveals he may have a conflict of interest. Their job is to provide an unbiased take on the game. In Meyer's situation, referring to Penn State as "we" didn't just hint he had some sort of bias in the game, it may reveal that Penn State and Meyer have mutual interest in one another.

Clearly Penn State needs a successor to Joe Paterno. Meyer may be temporarily out of work, but he's still one of the most sought after coaches in the entire nation.

Are we making a lot of fuss over nothing? After all, wouldn't it take the perfect situation to lure Meyer out of the booth and onto the field?

Yes it would. The fact of the matter is, Penn State is the perfect situation. Meyer would be able to go into one of the most historic programs in the nation. Penn State is a recruiters dream and Meyer can take the program to the next level with his top-notch coaching.

Nobody can come in and fill Joe Pa's shoes, but Penn State could certainly do a lot worse than Meyer. It's going to take more than Meyer's Freudian slip for us to say for certain whether or not he has interest in Penn State, but it's certainly enough for us to continue the speculation firestorm.

Consider this a "soft verbal" from Meyer.
