WWE RAW: 5 Most Exciting Moments From Monday Night

Sean O'NeilOct 11, 2011

After the walkout on the October 3 edition of Monday night RAW, the possibilities for this week's RAW were endless.

We ended up seeing a great episode of RAW where we got to see CM Punk commentate, the return of two Superstars and the beginning of a new general manager reign.

These were the five most exciting moments from Monday night.

Triple H Relieved of Duties

1 of 5

The show kicked off with no announcers and Triple H alone in the ring. He proclaimed that he would not step down and he would wrestle a broomstick if he had to.

He was soon accompanied by John Cena, CM Punk and Sheamus, who all said that he was their boss and they weren't going to leave. Triple H made a match of John Cena v. Sheamus, naming himself referee and CM Punk the commentator.

The match was quickly stopped when "No Chance" hit the speakers and Vince McMahon came down to the ring. He announced that the board was not willing to take a chance with Triple H's scheme and he was officially relieved of his duties. John Lauranitis was named as the new GM of RAW.

I think that I speak for a lot of people when I say that John Lauranitis absolutely sucks, but I think it is pretty clear that his actions will lead us into Survivor Series, where we will most likely see an elimination match between Team Lauranitis and Team Triple H.

And his first order of business? John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio for the WWE Championship at Vengeance.

Cody Rhodes Bags Randy Orton

2 of 5

Another match between Randy Orton and Mark Henry was set up for the evening, and during the match Cody Rhodes decided to intervene.

After Orton hit the RKO, Rhodes hit Orton, giving Orton the victory by DQ. Orton proceeded to get two World's Strongest Slams from Henry and a CrossRhodes Rhodes. Rhodes then placed a paper bag around Orton's head, which should ignite a big rivalry between the two.

I really like the idea of this rivalry, and I will love it even more if Orton puts Rhodes over like he did with Henry. This will also keep Orton out of the World Heavyweight Championship picture for some time and add even more legitimacy to the Intercontinental Championship.

Jim Ross Fired

3 of 5

After a Divas match—which I would've liked to sleep during but couldn't due to Kelly Kelly's screaming—John Lauranitis came down to the ring and asked Jim Ross to him.

He said that because he walked out on both Triple H and the state of Oklahoma the previous week, he was an ingrate. Therefore, he was fired!

I'm not entirely sure where the WWE is going with this, as it was easily one of the most surprising moments of the night. It will be interesting to see where this storyline goes over the next few weeks.

AirBoom Gets a New Song

4 of 5

Hey! AirBoom has a real song!

I was getting pretty tired of hearing Evan Bourne's opening with SOS directly afterwards, and this song was much better. The match, which ensued between AirBoom and Mason Ryan versus Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger and David Otunga, was pretty good also.

Mason Ryan is an absolute machine, as he finished off the match with his finisher and got the pin for the good guys. I like that he and David Otunga both are getting quality air time and look like they could have good futures in the WWE.

Who's Michael McGillicutty?

Miz and R-Truth Return, Triple H Rescues CM Punk

5 of 5

Shortly after the main event match between CM Punk an Alberto Del Rio began, John Lauranitis stopped that match and announced that the tow of them would be fighting two Superstars who now had their jobs back, the Miz and R-Truth.

YES!!!!!

It's about time these two were back on the show on a regular basis. It would also make sense that Del Rio would walk out on Punk, making the match essentially a handicap match. Punk held his own and looked like he was going to win, but Truth interfered, giving the win to Punk by DQ.

As Awesome Truth beat up on Punk, it was Triple H to the rescue. Punk and Hunter went on to dominate the two rebels and then shake hands in the ring. Backstage, Lauranitis told Otunga that Triple H and Punk would be facing Miz and Truth at Vengeance in a tag team match.

I missed Triple H being a full-time wrestler, and it should be great to see The Game back full time as a wrestler. He and Punk also make a great team, and I'm guessing that the two of them will be more than ready to destroy Miz and Truth at Vengeance.
