Waiver Wire Week 6: Why You Must Add Doug Baldwin in Fantasy Football

Having some issues at the wide receiver spot on your fantasy football roster? Time to add Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin. 

Sure, you've got your No. 1 guy, maybe Calvin Johnson or Larry Fitzgerald and you move around your No. 2 option between, say, Santana Moss and Hines Ward, but are really looking for an underrated No. 3 that can consistently produce. 

Baldwin could be your guy. 

Yes, he's on what many consider to be the "lowly" Seattle Seahawks. To me, the Seahawks are a team that's finally coming around. They've won two of three games, including a major upset on the road against the Giants. 

I thought teams from the West Coast traveling to the East Coast for a 1 o'clock start could never win?

Back to Baldwin. 

The undrafted free agent out of Stanford has 20 catches on 27 targets for 330 yards (16.5 per-catch) and two touchdowns. His targets and receptions are no fluke and haven't come because of a major injury to the receiving corps. In fact, Baldwin has three 80-plus yard receiving games this year and two of them have come with Sidney Rice back in the lineup. 

He has produced with Tarvaris Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst at quarterback. 

He hasn't done enough to garner continual double teams, which bodes well for anyone who's intelligent enough to make a waiver claim on the surprising wideout. 

The Seahawks have a bye in Week 6, play on the road in Cleveland and then face a stout Bengals team at home. Not the greatest of matchups for Seattle, but Baldwin will be relied upon to continue his fine rookie campaign.  

From all accounts I've read, Baldwin is a great route runner and has deceptive speed. Last year at Stanford, he was considered a deep threat and was a dangerous return man. 

The athleticism is there. 

Before he becomes to hot of a commodity, grab Baldwin, he's worth the small risk and has loads of potential.
