BCS Standings 2011: Arizona State vs. Oregon and 3 Most Important Week 7 Games
The BCS ranking system has its positives and negatives, but one thing it does well is make every game important. There is never a week where a game is meaningless because one loss will probably end your national championship dreams.
Here are the three most important games of Week 7.
Oklahoma State at Texas
What It Means for the Cowboys
A win would be the second in three weeks against a ranked team on the road for Oklahoma State. It would strengthen their case against Wisconsin and Boise State for the fourth spot behind LSU, Alabama and Oklahoma.
What It Means for the Longhorns
After getting crushed by the Sooners, Texas will attempt to prove it isn't a conference pushover. Another loss would drop the Longhorns out of the AP Top 25 after reaching No. 11 just two weeks ago.
Prediction: Oklahoma State 35 Texas 27
Michigan at Michigan State
What It Means for the Wolverines
Facing off with its arch rival for the Paul Bunyan Trophy will be Michigan's first true test of the season. Voters have given the Wolverines a benefit of the doubt by pushing them onto the Top 10 fringe; now they must back it up.
What It Means for the Spartans
A loss to Notre Dame put a major dent in their season, but now they have three straight games against teams ranked in the Top 15. That opens the door for Michigan State to have a major impact after being written off a couple weeks ago.
Prediction: Michigan State 21 Michigan 20
Arizona State at Oregon
What It Means for the Sun Devils
Both teams are undefeated in Pac-12 play and this is Arizona State's last game against a ranked team in 2011. If they are going to make any BCS noise through the automatic-qualifier route, a win vs. Oregon is a must.
What It Means for the Ducks
They have forced themselves back into the Top 10 after an opening-week loss to LSU. Everybody knows their offense is among the best in the nation, but voters want to see how Oregon's defense will fair against ranked competition.
Prediction: Oregon 42 Arizona State 31
