Stanley Cup Rings: Ranking the Boston Bruins' Swagger vs. the Last 10 Rings

Nicholas GossOct 11, 2011

The Boston Bruins recently received their 2011 Stanley Cup rings just a few days prior to the 2011-12 NHL season at the Boston Harbor Hotel, and the team did a brilliant job of creating a well-designed ring.

The Bruins not only used plenty of diamonds like everyone else, they incorporated some gold all around the ring to give it a colorful feel along with the iconic "black and gold" color scheme.

How does the Bruins 2011 championship ring stack up against the rings of the past 10 Stanley Cup winners? Let's find out.

10) 2001: Colorado Avalanche

1 of 10

The Colorado Avalanche won the Stanley Cup in 2001 by defeating the New Jersey Devils in seven games. The Final is best remembered as the moment when former Bruins legend Ray Bourque finally won the Cup.

The ring itself isn't very well done, but the Avalanche logo is hard to re-create on a ring.

9) 2003: New Jersey Devils

2 of 10

The New Jersey Devils defeated the Anaheim Ducks in seven games to win their third Stanley Cup title in team history.

This ring is awesome. The red-colored stones make up the Devils logo, and the sides pay tribute to the past years the team won the Cup.

8) 2009: Pittsburgh Penguins

3 of 10

After losing to the Detroit Red Wings in the 2008 Cup Final, the Pittsburgh Penguins faced the Red Wings again in 2009 and won in seven games.

This is a very good ring, fully colored logo with some gold throughout the ring, and a Stanley Cup behind the Penguin.

Well done.

7) 2010: Chicago Blackhawks

4 of 10

The Chicago Blackhawks won their first Stanley Cup in decades in 2010 when they defeated the Philadelphia Flyers in six games.

This ring is nice, but it doesn't have enough color for me, just a bit of red. With the amazing colors the Blackhawks logo has in it, I would have thought they'd show up in the ring.

6) 2006: Carolina Hurricanes

5 of 10

The Carolina Hurricanes won their first ever Stanley Cup in 2006 when they defeated the Edmonton Oilers in seven games.

The Hurricanes ring is awesome. The logo which includes colored stones fits around the Stanley Cup, and the design as a whole is great.

5) 2011: Boston Bruins

6 of 10

The Boston Bruins won their first Stanley Cup in nearly 40 years last season when they defeated the Vancouver Canucks in seven games.

The Bruins did a nice job with this ring, incorporating lots of gold into the design since the color has been used by the Bruins throughout their history.

The spoked-B logo rests on top of the Stanley Cup on the front of the ring, and the one side has the Cup and years the team has won it, while the other side includes each players name (not everyone, personalized for each player.)

4) 2007: Anaheim Ducks

7 of 10

The Anaheim Ducks defeated the Ottawa Senators in five games to win the 2007 Stanley Cup, and their ring is very well done.

The Ducks logo with color sitting on top of a diamond filled Stanley Cup is really cool, and the sides are well done too.

Interestingly, the Ducks put a diamond on this ring to symbolize the 2004-05 NHL lockout. Weird.

3) 2002: Detroit Red Wings

8 of 10

This ring has an awesome colored Red Wings logo on top of the Stanley Cup, with gold all round it. Perfect blend of colors and different stones.

The Red Wings won the 2002 Stanley Cup by beating the Carolina Hurricanes in five games.

2) 2004: Tampa Bay Lightning

9 of 10

The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Calgary Flames to win the 2004 Stanley Cup Final in seven games.

Their ring is awesome. The sections of the Cup are colored in the shade of blue used by the team, with "Tampa Bay" written in the middle in the team's font.

Everything else about this ring is done well too. One of the best Cup rings ever.

1) 2008: Detroit Red Wings

10 of 10

Do the Detroit Red Wings make the best rings? I think they might.

Wow, this is how a ring should be done. Not only is the Red Wings logo done beautifully with differently cut diamonds, the side of the ring showcasing the many Stanley Cup the Red Wings franchise has won is really cool.

Detroit beat the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2008 Cup Final.
