Tim Tebow: What Reaction Should We Expect If Kyle Orton is Named Starter?

Let's dive in right now.

What reaction should we expect if Kyle Orton is named the starter?

Boos, and lots of it.

All season long Kyle Orton has been getting booed by Broncos' fans, and he even had a little bit of it in the preseason.

Going by the numbers it's not like Orton has played vehemently bad (979 yards, eight TDs, seven picks), but after the way he started off in 2009, and then his solid performance in 2010, 2011 is a disappointment.

Plus, it doesn't help Kyle's case to continue as starting QB when his record is 12-22 since joining Denver in 2009, when he won his first six games.

So technically, since then, the Broncos have been 6-22.

Now, much of that can also be attributed to a horrendous defense as well as the lack of a running game.

Last season Denver had a Top Ten passing offense, but everything else was a complete disaster.

Maybe 2011 is acting as one of those years where "you have to get worse in order to get better", and if Kyle Orton remains as the starter the boos are going to be worse.

And not only for Orton. They'll get worse for new head coach John Fox just like it did for Josh McDaniels who filled in for Mike Shanahan. Under that change, Denver then found themselves without Jay Cutler.

Tim Tebow was drafted and is expected to turnaround the franchise. That is a lot of pressure on a rookie QB, but then again, it's not like Tebow doesn't know how to overcome adversity.

Obviously Tebow's success remains to be seen, and since we've seen Orton's already (or lack thereof in terms of wins and loss, because his numbers could be a lot worse for a team with no running game), it may time to see what Tebow's got. When things are bad, change becomes inevitable.

All this being said, it's a foregone conclusion to say that the majority of Denver fans everywhere won't be happy to see Orton under center.

It's not so much that Kyle Orton is a hated-athlete, but more because of the aura (if that's even the right word) that is Tim Tebow.

People are interested to see how the young man will perform on a consistent basis in the NFL, and at this point, there's really no reason why he can't get the opportunity.

As Tebow begins to play more on a weekly basis, fans and critics will be able to make their own perspective.

Therefore leading us to this next question:

What happens if Tim Tebow does not play well?
