NFL Picks Week 6: New York Giants and 3 Home Favorites to Jump on

Eric BallOct 11, 2011

The New York Giants stunk in their upset loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The Buffalo Bills were impressive in their win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

That’s ancient history.

This week you need to jump all over the Giants -3 against the Bills in MetLife Stadium.

The Giants sport one of the best passing games in the league with Eli Manning, ranking ninth in the NFL statically. Manning has already amassed 1,486 yards in five games. On the other side of the coin, the Bills are 26th in the league against the pass and have given up big chunks of yards to every QB they’ve faced thus far.

Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz are going to have a field day.

Defensively, the Giants are slowly getting healthy and they can consistently bring the heat on QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, something that can really throw him off. As long as the Giants can contain the speedy Fred Jackson, an angry Giants squad will get the bounce-back win they need to reaffirm their status as contenders in the NFC.

Prediction: Giants 37 Bills 31

Here are two other home favorites to ponder:

Oakland Raiders -5.5 vs. Cleveland Browns

The Raiders are coming off a highly emotionally win a day after the passing of Al Davis and will now play their first game at home without the legend.

With that in mind, the Raiders crowd will be like no other on Sunday.

On the field the Raiders won their first game of the year without getting much from their running game. If they can win without Darren McFadden reaching the 60-yard mark, this team is even more dangerous than we thought.

With the meager Oakland secondary facing a poor group of Browns receivers, that matchup is a wash.

The difference is the Raiders toughness and superior offensive and defensive lines. This one’s easy:

Prediction: Raiders 23 Browns 17

New England Patriots -7 vs. Dallas Cowboys

The Pats put up enough points to make a seven-point spread seem like three.

Dallas has the benefit of coming off a bye, yet they must travel to Foxboro, where the Pats have been virtually unbeatable.

The less-than-stellar Dallas secondary is going to get destroyed by Tom Brady and the points are going to be coming in bunches. Tony Romo is going to try and keep up, but sooner or later he’ll make that stupid mistake that results in a crippling turnover.

With the Patriots finally getting the running game going, the offense is now more dangerous than ever.

No way the Cowboys, who may be without Miles Austin again, keep up.

Prediction: Patriots 38 Cowboys 24
