Fantasy Football Update: Chris Johnson's Slump Is Only Going to Get Worse

Tony SantorsaOct 10, 2011

I honestly hope that Chris Johnson is satisfied with his new six-year $55.26 million contract, as holding out for the entire preseason has clearly shown to set CJ2K back quite a few steps.

Johnson has been downright awful this season for fantasy owners who were fortunate enough to snag him with a high-end draft pick in their respected fantasy leagues.

CJ2K has ran for only 250 yards, has only had one game over 100 yards rushing, averaged a putrid 3.0 yards per-carry while scoring only one touchdown.

New England's BenJarvus Green-Ellis has better numbers than him, and that's definitely saying something.

With that being said, Johnson's horrendous slump is only going to get worse, as he had to take an early exit Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with tightness in his hamstring, but sources have indicated that the Titans do not anticipate any problems moving forward.

Wait a second, how do the Tennessee Titans know for sure that Johnson's tight hammy is just a minor injury? There's a definite chance that it could be a chronic injury, as hamstrings tend to re-injure themselves quite often—just ask Arian Foster.

All in all, Johnson's pitiful start to the season and his bummed hamstring, Mr. 2,000 yards could be entering a season-long slump.

All fantasy owners who are unfortunate enough to be possessing the talents of Chris Johnson need to ship him off immediately. If you're in a league with someone that's completely struggling, maybe a 0-5 record, or even somebody that lacks fantasy football knowledge, the time is now to trade away CJ2K.

Anyone who owns Chris Johnson right now needs to open up all possibilities for trading away this fantasy bust.
