Fantasy Football Week 6: Matt Ryan-Roddy White and 3 Duos Ready to Explode

T.J. McaloonOct 10, 2011

Having a quarterback-wide receiver combination on your team is a high-risk-high-reward move that you make as a fantasy owner every week. If it pays off, you automatically double your points. If it fails, you lose out on not one, but two position players!

But there is no greater feeling than to look down at a stat line to see your quarterback, say it’s Matthew Stafford, has thrown a 50-yard bomb to Calvin Johnson, your receiver. Not only did you just gain points on your opponent from the touchdowns, but you just doubled your score with one play

There are a few of these quarterback-wide receiver combinations that are worth starting every week.

Heading into Week 6 of the NFL regular season, here are three player combinations whom you should start on Sunday if you happen to be lucky enough to have one of them.

Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions

On the season, Stafford and Johnson have hooked-up for a touchdown on eight occasions through four games. So twice in each game, their owners are scored twice on one play. Tonight against the Chicago Bears, Stafford and Johnson should continue their stellar play with another touchdown combination.

However, the next week against San Francisco, those two will be the only offensive options for this Lions team. You can expect the 49ers to completely shut out the Lions' running game and force them to pass on almost every down.

Matt Ryan and Roddy White, Atlanta Falcons

Ryan and White have only hooked up twice this year for their owners. Yesterday, Ryan only had one touchdown pass, but luckily for these players' owners it was to White.

With the Falcons' rookie wide receiver Julio Jones injured during yesterday’s game against the Packers, there should be more chances for Matt Ryan to find Roddy White in the passing game.

Curtis Painter and Pierre Garçon, Indianapolis Colts

These two players are guaranteed to be available in your league. Coming into this year, no one wanted any of the Indianapolis Colts' offensive players. Even now, fantasy owners aren’t quick to add their players.

But the case for Painter and Garçon is that in three games, these two have hooked-up four times. Furthermore, each of Painter's four career touchdown passes have gone to Garçon.

It seems that these two have found comfort playing with each other, like Manning had with Reggie Wayne. It looks as if these two will continue to find each other for touchdown passes and catches from here on out.

There are a lot of quarterback-wide receiver combinations that you could own. But heading into Week 6, these three will have huge days against their opponents.
