On Sunday, a rowdy fan launched a hot dog at Tiger Woods. That is about it for the amount of interest the once famed golfer can produce at the moment.

The incident came in the final round of the Frys.com Open. A mediocre showing at a middling tournament would have received yawns otherwise.

ESPN reports on the scene that was all the buzz to start the week. Out of the most bizarre scene of the weekend, Woods became headline news once again.

On Monday, we had something wacky and zany to discuss in regards to Tiger Woods. The important part is that we are talking. Woods has fallen so far from his precipice that he is teetering on the brink of anonymity.

How much can we care about a golfer that is now merely average? It has been far too long since Woods commanded the field with a fearsome charge. The livelihood, the poise and the perfection is just not there.

The odd part is Woods claimed he felt healthy and prepared to take on the Fry's.com Open, a tournament that would have been a breeze for the classic Tiger.

Woods finished the fourth day with a 277, 7 under par. It was good, but not good enough. In fact, Woods tied for 30th in the tournament.

If one were so inclined to look for a positive note, it's that Woods' performance was nowhere near the disaster previous comebacks produced.

Some see the performance at Fry's as a positive sign that Woods is back on track. I see him leveling off as a mortal golfer that has seen his best golf pass him by.

After a weekend of above average golf, I could only think of how meager Woods has become. The man that could turn a tournament with his mere presence was at a third-rate tourney, having a hot dog thrown at him by a crazy man.

This is not the landscape suited for legends, rather sideshows. Somehow, Woods found a new way to regress in a weekend of human efforts.

In a weird twist of fate, Woods needs a hot dog thrown at him to become headline news. The golfer remains, but the mystique died a long time ago.
