NFL Week 6 Picks: Early Lines and Previews of the Early Games

Takeo SportsOct 10, 2011

Week 5 is not over yet, but we are already talking about the upcoming NFL weekend. Will the Giants bounce back after that horrible loss against the Seahawks? Will the Colts finally win a game?

Can the Eagles win their second game of the year? Are the Pittsburgh Steelers back to normal?

There's only one sure thing in the NFL: We can never be sure of anything! Anyone can win on any given Sunday.

Enjoy this sixth week of action!

St. Louis Rams vs. Green Bay Packers

1 of 7

This game features the biggest line of the week. The Packers are set as 15-point favorites by most Las Vegas sports books.

Early on, 75 percent of the action is on the Super Bowl Champions. If you watched Aaron Rodgers play these past two years, you know that it is difficult to go against him.

However, the Rams are coming off their bye week and are winless.

They will be desperate to get a win. It will be interesting to see if this line goes up. Rams won’t win, but could keep this game closer than anticipated.

Early lean: If the line goes up to 17, I like the Rams to cover. However, it's always dangerous to go against Rodgers.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

2 of 7

The Steelers are set as the favorite. Currently, the line goes anywhere from 12 to 14 points.

Can the Steelers win by more than two touchdowns?

The public now thinks that the Steelers are back to their usual performance since they defeated the Titans.

However, we should not forget their horrible performances against Houston and Indianapolis.

The Steelers are bothered by many injuries and could overlook this game after a big win against the Titans.

Early lean: I think that the Steelers will be flat, so the Jaguars could cover this one.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Redskins

3 of 7

The Eagles are underdog by a single point. They were expected to be the dream team, but right now they are the nightmare team.

The Eagles only have one win in five games. It doesn’t get any better for them since they will be on the road to face their division rivals.

The Redskins are coming off their bye week, so expect them to be ready to take control of the division. The only questionable factor for the Redskins is Rex Grossman.

Will he be finding more open wide receivers or open corner backs?

Early lean: The Redskins seem to be the obvious choice in this situation, but it's tough to trust Rex Grossman.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Detroit Lions

4 of 7

I heard many people saying that the 49ers were not good. Surprisingly, they are leading their division and I don’t think they will have any trouble winning it.

This division is really bad.  I have bashed the NFL coaches lately, but I have nothing to say against Jim Harbaugh.

He is a true leader for this team and makes the right calls at the right moment. The Lions will be playing on a short week.

I am curious to see what will be the line after Monday Night Football.

Early lean: No line released yet.

Carolina Panthers vs. Atlanta Falcons

5 of 7

The Falcons are almost unbeatable at home, unless Aaron Rodgers is under center for their opponent.

The Panthers have been a solid opposition all year long so far. As for the Falcons, they haven’t been impressing.

They almost blew a 20-point lead in Seattle and are awful against the pass. They are ranked No. 27. I expect Cam Newton to have a big day.

Atlanta is now set as a five-point favorite, but with the way they have been playing this year, it is tough to trust them.

Early lean: I hate to go against the Falcons at home since Matt Ryan is a machine when playing at the Georgia Dome, however, five points to cover is a lot for this average Falcons squad.

Indianapolis Colts vs. Cincinnati Bengals

6 of 7

The Bengals will need to win by more than a touchdown to cover the number set by Las Vegas. This Bengals squad is better than most people think.

They have a solid defense. They are ranked No. 3 against the pass and No. 7 against the run. How will Curtis Painter score against them?

Actually, all the Bengals would need to cover the spread is to make three field goals since it will be difficult for the Colts to score a single point.

They blew a big lead against the Chiefs, and the players know that the season is done.

They are waiting to draft Manning’s successor, Andrew Luck. If you’re out of survivor pick options, Bengals are a nice alternative.

Early lean: I like the Bengals to cover.

Buffalo Bills vs. New York Giants

7 of 7

Buffalo is the most heavily bet on team with 79 percent of the action on them. I can’t blame the public for backing the Bills.

The Giants are set as three-point favorites but they were horrible in Week 5.

They couldn’t manage to win against a poor Seahawks team playing with a backup quarterback.

Each week, pros think that the Bills are meant to get back to normal, but they prove them wrong every time. If you want to pick the Bills, do it fast, since this line may move quickly.

Early lean: The Giants always start the year with a great record. However, they always encounter problems down the stretch. Giants are banged up and the Bills are for real. I like the Bills in the underdog role.
