Week 6 Waiver Wire: Should Fantasy Owners Add Tim Tebow?
After a terrible first half, Denver Broncos fans got what they were waiting for: Quarterback Kyle Orton was benched in favor of backup Tim Tebow. Orton went just 6-of-13 for 34 yards and an interception before being replaced by Tebow, who put up a four-completion, 79-yard performance in which he threw for one touchdown and rushed for a second.
It's fairly clear that the move may be permanent, though nothing has been confirmed by Broncos head coach John Fox just yet. Only time will tell what starting Tebow means for Denver's season, but fantasy GMs are already wondering what he'd mean for their own rosters.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
But, don't get too excited just yet. Remember, there are 32 starting quarterbacks in the NFL, and only 10, maybe 16 teams in your fantasy league. Not every starting quarterback deserves a fantasy roster spot, and Tebow's certainly has a lot to prove before you grab him with dreams of starting him in mind.
He's got fantasy upside, surely. He was able to make plays with his legs last night, as expected, and he mounted a comeback over the Chargers that fell just short, something Orton likely could not have managed.
But much of that can be attributed to the element of surprise. With Tebow starting for Denver, opposing defenses will be able to plan for him. This will cut into his effectiveness, as will his still-iffy passing skills.
With bye weeks in full swing, I don't recommend that fantasy owners use a valuable roster spot on the unproven Tebow. He still has to show that he's a worthwhile starting quarterback in real life before he even enters the fantasy football discussion as a good pickup, let alone a starter.
The Tebow hype machine will be in full force through Denver's Week 6 bye, and based on last night's performance, he's a tempting waiver wire addition. Don't bite on it just yet, however. There are other quarterbacks on the market with a legitimate body of work justifying a fantasy pickup.
Until Tebow shows he has what it takes to lead the struggling Broncos to a victory or two, he has little fantasy value.
