Fantasy Football Week 6: Darren McFadden, Wes Welker and 3 Stars That'll Rebound

Donald WoodOct 10, 2011

After a week of the 2011 NFL season that saw some of the wildest finishes of the year, many fans were disappointed by the way their fantasy football teams performed.

For Week 6, players like Darren McFadden and Wes Welker who had solid games but nothing special will look to return to the amazing form they had through the first four weeks of the season.

It’s not much to ask from these high fantasy draft picks to put up huge numbers every week, but there will be down times. What’s important is that they bounce back instead of letting it become the norm.

Darren McFadden

The Oakland Raiders beat the Houston Texans on Sunday, but star running back Darren McFadden was stifled for the first time this season. With just 51 yards on 16 carries, the Texans had McFadden figured out from jump street.

While the matchup against the Cleveland Browns isn’t an ideal one, the Oakland Raiders will show their dominance early and use McFadden as the ultimate utility weapon to pick the Browns apart.

Wes Welker

I know what people are thinking: five catches for 124 yards is a great day for nine out of 10 receivers in the NFL, but not for Wes Welker. He is a New England Patriot.

While his yardage numbers were skewed by a huge 73-yard catch against the New York Jets, the coverage of Darrelle Revis was enough to slow the star down. The Patriots play the Dallas Cowboys next week, and expect Welker to torch their secondary all game long.

Stevie Johnson

There should have been no reason that Stevie Johnson was in your lineup this week against the Philadelphia Eagles because as bad as their run defense is, their outside pass defense is lights out.

The Buffalo Bills' standout wide receiver is still one of the best in the league, and he will assert that dominance next week when the team takes on the porous secondary of the New York Giants.
