2011 Get 'em or Don't Sweat 'em Waiver Wire Advice: NFL Week 6
There were some unusual heroes on Sunday. There always are. Let’s take a look at them and see if they are worthy of your fantasy rosters.
Alex Smith, QB, San Francisco 49ers: Smith threw for 170 yards and three touchdowns. His yardage totals have been unspectacular at 210.3 over the past four games, but he has seven touchdowns with just one pick during that stretch. He’s only a bye week play though.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Curtis Painter, QB, Indianapolis Colts: Painter connected with Garcon for another pair of touchdowns as he threw for 277 yards. I’d only use him in two QB leagues.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Matt Cassel, QB, Kansas City Chiefs: Cassel could be available due to his poor start. After throwing for 257 yards and four touchdowns he’ll be a popular guy to add as a backup QB. Bowe is playing inspired football.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Tim Tebow, QB, Denver Broncos: Tebow nearly led the Broncos back throwing for a touchdown and running for another. If he earned a start after the bye he’s worth owning.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Delone Carter, RB, Indianapolis Colts: Carter replaced Joseph Addai (hamstring) and had 22 yards and a score. He also caught two passes for 12 yards. He’ll share the load with Donald Brown, but is the preferred back to own. You have to grab him as he’s a starting running back, but don’t expect a lot.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Jackie Battle, RB, Kansas City Chiefs: Battle rumbled for 119 yards on 19 carries. He also caught two passes for 21 yards and made Thomas Jones and Dexter McCluster irrelevant.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers: Isaac Redman (61 total yards) was expected to lead the way, but Dwyer finished with 107 yards on 11 carries with a six-yard catch. Mendenhall should be back next week making Dwyer and Redman nothing more than handcuffs.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Ben Obomanu and Doug Baldwin, WR, Seattle Seahawks: Obomanu caught six passes (10 targets) for 51 yards and a score. Baldwin added eight catches (nine targets) for 136 yards and a touchdown. Baldwin has two solid games in a row and three of his five games. Obomanu has been quiet this year. I prefer Baldwin, but don’t really like either.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Oakland Raiders: DHB caught seven passes (12 targets) for 99 yards and a touchdown. That’s two big games in a row. Looks like he’s finally getting it.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Early Doucet, WR, Arizona Cardinals: Doucet caught eight passes (16 targets) for 92 yards. He’s inconsistent, but is a decent bye week play because Fitz takes so much attention away and he gets so many looks.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Hines Ward, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers: Ward caught seven passes (eight targets) for 54 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He’s probably more name than game right now, but provides decent WR depth.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Jason Avant, WR, Philadelphia Eagles: Avant caught nine passes (10 targets) for 139 yards. He now has 19 catches in his past three games making him a decent PPR option, but I’d let him go in standard leagues.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Jason Hill, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars: Hill caught five passes (eight targets) for 123 yards and a touchdown. Nice game, but he’s not a guy I would add.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Kevin Walter, WR, Houston Texans: Walter caught five passes (six targets) for 81 yards and a score. He should be a nice play while Andre Johnson is out.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Jake Ballard, TE, New York Giants: Ballard caught three passes (four targets) for 72 yards and a score. He’s been pretty quiet this year and isn’t a great TE2 option.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Joel Dreesseen, TE, Houston Texans: Dreesseen caught five passes (nine targets) for 112 yards and a score. Nice game, but don’t expect more like that.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
