Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups: Tim Tebow and 3 QBs to Boost Your Team

Eric BallOct 10, 2011

Who knew that a guy who completed four passes would be a good fantasy option?

The NFL world is abuzz with Tim Tebow hype after his impressive second half performance against the San Diego Chargers.

Despite going 4-of-10 for 79 yards, he was fantasy gold with a touchdown through the air and on the ground. He finished with 38 yards on six carries.

That's where Tebow's value is.

He won't be throwing for 400 yards. Rather, he'll be providing a great balance of passing and rushing yards, with touchdowns to boot. He is one of the best goal-line players in the league with his size, which is music to the ears of fantasy owners.

As the offense shifts to cater to Tebow's strengths, his numbers will only get better.

Grab Tebow during his bye and expect a lot of success in the second half of the season.

Here are two other QBs to consider picking up after Week 5:

Alex Smith, San Francisco 49ers

What?

How is this possible?

It's crazy to say this...but Smith is turning into a solid option in fantasy. Smith tossed three touchdowns on Sunday and is quietly becoming one of the smarter QBs in the league.

He has only thrown one interception this season and is playing the game manager role to a tee.

With a lot of the dregs of the NFL still on the schedule, expect him to continue his impressive early-season numbers.

Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals

The red rifle has turned into "Mr. Fourth Quarter," and it's translating into big fantasy points as well. He had two more touchdowns against the Jaguars, despite playing in strong winds for most of the afternoon.

He has an absolute stud in AJ Green, who can go up and catch almost anything in his direction. He's the next great young receiver in the league.

With Cedric Benson's suspension ruling to come in the next few days, expect the Bengals offense to throw the ball more often.

It's a crazy world we live in when a rookie QB with rookies all around him are legit fantasy options at QB.

That's why we all love fantasy football...nothing is more unpredictable.
