Tim Tebow: QB Will Struggle, but Broncos Made Right Move

Austin GreenOct 10, 2011

Broncos fans, the Tim Tebow ride is going to be a rocky one this season (and probably next year as well) but just know that your team made the right decision by inserting him on Sunday.

Tebow will undoubtedly be the starter from here on out, as John Fox and the rest of the coaching staff officially threw in the towel on the Kyle Orton experiment at halftime of the Broncos-Chargers game.

After rumors surfaced over the summer that the Broncos were shopping Orton around, there has been an obvious schism within the Denver locker room that can only be solved by starting Tebow and dealing Orton.

Quarterback controversies always suck, but this one is particularly bad because of Tebow's college pedigree, cult-like following and obvious technical flaws.

His throwing motion is notoriously hideous, and he's about as accurate as a 17th-century musket. But there's no denying that his teammates want to win for him, and they work harder when he's under center.

Personally, I believe Orton gives the Broncos a better chance to win right now. But they are fully invested in Tebow, and the only way to really find out what they've got is to push all their chips to the center of the table and ride Tebow for the rest of the season—through good and bad.

Tebow's cameo on Sunday was exactly what Broncos fans should expect for the rest of the season. He won't connect on a high percentage of his passes, and that awkward lefty throwing motion will make you cringe every time.

But he's going to find a way to make plays, because—as the media has pounded into our heads for years now—Tebow has that "it" factor.

Now, what that means exactly is up for debate, but judging by those absurd catches Brandon Lloyd made late, I'm going to interpret it as "his teammates took his side so they're going to play their asses off so they don't look stupid."

Frankly, the Broncos have many flaws (defense being their main problem), so I don't think it really matters who's under center this year.

Denver made the right decision by going all-in with Tebow in an effort to make sure their future is brighter than their present.

And hey, if nothing else, at least it's going to be interesting.
