Chicago Marathon Results 2011: Moses Mosop and Liliya Shobukhova Win Race

Well over one million people witnessed Moses Mosop and Liliya Shobukhova take home the Men’s and Women’s crown at the 2011 Chicago Marathon.

The race is one of the most prestigious races on the planet.

Kenya’s Mosop made his Chicago Marathon debut posting a course record of 2:05:37.

He grabbed a prize total of $150 thousand with his victory and record-setting day.

Second place went to Wesley Korir with a time of 2:06:16.

Third place went to Bernard Kiprop Kipyego with a time of 2:06:29.

Fourth place went to Bekana Daba with a time of 2:07:59.                                                           

American racer Ryan Hall finished fifth with a time of 2:08:04 for his third-best time of his career.

Russia’s Shobukhova won the Women’s title with a time of 2:20:25. She has been an absolute beast at the Chicago Marathon winning it for the third-straight time.

This was the first time somebody has done this at the Chicago Marathon. She won $100 thousand for the race.

Ejegayehu Dibaba finished second with a time of 2:22:09.

Kayoko Fukushi finished third with a time of 2:24:38.  

Belainesh Zemedkun Gebre finished fourth with a time of 2:26:17.

Christelle Daunay finished fifth with a time of 2:26:41.

The 34^th Chicago Marathon had 45,000 total competitors in the race, with 25 different countries represented and 1.7 million spectators.

This marathon is one that millions will remember because of the records broken, the crowd and the outcome.

You have to understand the spectacle to get why a race would be so important. The Chicago Marathon is a great spectacle.
