UFC 136: Is Chael Sonnen vs Anderson Silva II the Biggest Fight in UFC History?

Tim McTiernanOct 9, 2011

On Saturday night, Chael Sonnen earned a second round submission victory over Brian "The All American" Stann.

However, the biggest news came from what Sonnen had to say after the fight.

Prior to the fight, many people assumed that the winner between Chael Sonnen and Brian Stann would be for the No. 1 contender position in the middleweight division, and a shot at the champion, Anderson Silva.

Once Sonnen won, everybody knew the post-fight interview would be good.

Sonnen started it off very eloquently by saying "Anderson Silva, you absolutely suck." Sonnen continued, saying, "I'm calling you out Silva, but we're upping the stakes. I beat you, you leave the division. You beat me, I'll leave the UFC forever."

This rematch will likely be the biggest fight in the history of the UFC for many reasons.

Anderson Silva is the best fighter in MMA today, and Chael Sonnen is the only fighter who has come close to beating him.

Chael Sonnen will talk this fight up to no end, and just like their first fight, he will generate massive interest in the fight.

This rematch will be bigger than GSP vs. Matt Serra II. This rematch will be bigger than Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir II.

This will be the biggest fight in the history of the UFC. This will be the most anticipated fight in the history of the UFC. This will be the biggest PPV in the history of the UFC.

The stakes are higher than ever before, and everyone and their mother will want to watch this fight.

Chael Sonnen will make sure of that.
