Michael Vick Fantasy Football Advice: Trade Eagles QB While Stock Is High

Jon DoveOct 9, 2011

Michael Vick should be traded from your fantasy football team. Last season, Vick emerged as a great fantasy football option.  If you were one of the lucky people who picked up Vick off the waiver wire, you likely enjoyed some big numbers.

Vick's late season surge resulted in a trade of Kevin Kolb, a new $100 million contract and high expectations. The fantasy value of Vick also received a major boost, with many owners selecting him in the first round.

However, Vick has been unable to live up to his lofty expectations. He has struggled to remain healthy, being forced out of consecutive games.  When in the lineup, Vick has made poor decisions, throwing several terrible interceptions.

A lot of the Vick's struggles are a result of poor offensive line play. He is constantly under pressure and receiving big hits, which have added up and resulted in several injuries. This rash of injuries are very concerning, and something fantasy owners should consider.

As a fantasy owner, you cannot win your league if you have instability at the quarterback position.  Sometimes you're better just getting some consistency, rather than the big play. If you know someone is going to be in and out of the lineup, you have to consider placing that player on the bench.  However, when that player is your top pick, it makes for a difficult decision.

Put aside Vick's injury concerns and you still have to worry about his production. The Eagles offense has not lived up to expectations. They are lacking the explosive plays that made them so successful.  This is due to the problems along the offensive line, but also because of the injuries to Vick.

If Vick is able to avoid further injuries, he still has to show that he can produce. He needs to avoid the turnovers and move the football.

If you're a Vick owner, I would considered making a trade, while he still has some value.
