UFC 136 Results: Dana White on Chael Sonnen, Anderson Silva, Jon Jones and More
In an event headlined by two title fights, Chael Sonnen stole the show with an entertaining post-fight interview after his win over Brian Stann at UFC 136. With the UFC middleweight champion sitting cageside, Sonnen asked for a rematch with Anderson Silva on Super Bowl weekend.
Undoubtedly, the rematch would be one of the most highly-anticipated fights in recent memory. The fact that it is a title fight aside, Sonnen's mouth alone would sell the fight as a main event on a massive fight card.
"I'd be pretty stupid not to do it," UFC president Dana White said when asked if he would schedule the bout in an interview with MMA Fighting.
In another shocking moment outside of the two championship bouts at UFC 136, Joe Lauzon upset lightweight contender Melvin Guillard with a submission in the first minute of their fight. The loss is another setback in a long list of mental lapses for Guillard.
"Melvin Guillard is his own worst enemy," White said.
White was also asked about recent news that Rashad Evans had been pulled from another title shot against UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Replaced by Lyoto Machida, Evans is still recovering from a hand injury, which could force him to fight again before earning a title shot he has been in line for since mid-2010.
"He (Evans) won't have to [fight before getting a title shot], but he probably will," White said.
