Al Davis Death: Oakland Raiders Will Play Inspired with Davis Decal on Helmets

Justin WeltonOct 9, 2011

A decal will be on every Oakland Raiders helmet saying “Al” in silver letters to pay respect to the former owner.

That sticker will be seen every second of non-game action for ever single player on the Raiders. They will see that sticker and be reminded to “Win baby, win." This simple gesture will go a long way in how focused the Raiders will be. They will play inspired football for their owner who loved that football team.

Love him or hate him, Davis meant a lot to the NFL community. It would be an honor just to sit down and have one conversation with him. His words are inspiring, his thoughts are true and his passion for football is one that few carry.

As we seen since his passing, all we have heard is great stories about how great of a football guy he was. Davis was great for the game. The players know that, the coaches know that and the fans know that.

Players and coaches tend to stick together in tough circumstances, and the Raiders will get their chance on Sunday at the Houston Texans.

It won’t be easy. The pregame festivities will be different, but they know they have a job to do.

“Obviously, it’s a tremendous loss,” said Head Coach Hue Jackson. “I just know coach. He would want us to go out and play like Raiders. We are going to honor him by playing the way the Raiders should play.”

This quote speaks volumes to how ready they will be against the Texans. It still may not be enough against a quality team, but you better believe they will be fighting every second of the way.

Oakland will be an inspired team on Sunday. They will play their hearts out for their former owner.
